Things to do in Lanzarote?
off soon on my hols with the young lady in tow. Can anyone recommend anything to see / do whilst there?
May hire a car and drive about.
We are staying in Costa Teguise, so if you know of any decent bars, let me know. Especially as I wouldn't mind trying to catch the last F1 race next week.

When I was there, I took a trip to 'Fire mountain' and a bloke cooked me a fried breakfast on a stone it was that hot.

Get pissed and sunbathe.

Anything else and you're letting your country down.

Been pissing down today in Costa Teguise and forecast thunder, lightening and rain for next four days. Been here since September 30th and the weather has been great and at this time of year very little wind.
Never worry about things you have no control over, leave it to the Gods. The West Ham bar went about 4/5 years ago, it's called Monica's now, they do a mean Bombay and tonic.

Looked at the weather forecast and it isn't great after last week being so good, but I'm sure with all your help I will find stuff to do.

Combined ticket for

Nat. Park
Mirador del Rio
Lagoon
Caves

Hired a jeep and the combined ticket as above for 2 adults and two kids was about £80. 2 days. Recommended.

Avoid the market day on the bus. Too many tourists. As suggested get there early.

Try the square of an evening. There's a bandstand with live entertainment every night.Bars and resturants are very resonable.Chispas is dirt cheap.Dont have the draught beer tho,go for the bottled Dorada special.Think its about a euro twenty.Tekkers bar just off the square shows all the sports.

I'm in player blanca now beer and food is good if ya don't like beaches not a lot to do. Went to a bird and penguin park north of the island and it was crap and very expensive.

I was in Costa Teguise 3 years ago, about this time of year, some pub was advertising roast dinner and saying it was -10c in the UK, which I thought was a piss take. Turns out it wasn't, it was actually -10c.

Re: Things to do in Lanzarote?
Costa Teguise means windy coast so no surprises there. If you hire a car and it is cloudy in Teguise (which it often is in the mornings) head south as that is where the sun will be shining. The best beaches are not at Famara unless you like wind surfing, but at Papagayo just outside Playa Blanca on the southern tip of the island, but beware the naturists! Also take a drive to the northern tip where you can get great views from the Mirador Del Rio. Remember not to waste your hard earned on duty free at the airport on the way out as it will be much cheaper there. Also watch the sunburn. It may say it is mid 20's but those quoted temperatures are in the shade. The sun is fierce here and temperatures in the sun will be in the low 30's. Have fun.

Pour boiling water on your foot and see how many days it takes the Spanish health authorities to help you. That should pass a couple of days - and you still won't get help.

Re: Things to do in Lanzarote?
thanks All, Weather looks like mid 20's over there at the moment - happy days. Hopefully it will be windy on the west and not the east of the island.

Anyone know how much car hire would be? Never driven abroad... should be fun :-s

Oh, there's a really good restaurant in Costa Teguise called Navarro as well. Worth a visit- but you'll probably have to book it before you get there...

Re: Things to do in Lanzarote?
Been to Costa Teguise before- nice place.

There's a great go kart track on the island about 30 mins drive from there. Should be plenty of bars open for the F1 as well. Wouldn't say any of them are particularly good though.
